A high school senior in Minnesota named Dylan Ence visited a poor village in Mexico a few years ago, where kids had to walk to school and didn’t have any supplies. So he spent four years raising enough money to buy an old school bus and fill it with things like backpacks. Now he’s sending all of it down there to help out.

A trial journey for what will become the world’s longest commercial flight touched down early Sunday morning. Australian airline Qantas was testing a 20-hour nonstop journey from New York City to Sydney. Project Sunrise covered 10,000 miles (16,000 kilometres) in a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with a team of researchers from Sydney University monitoring how passengers coped with the extended trip.

A 20-Year-Old Was Busted for Using a “McLovin” ID to Drink at a Bar
A 20-year-old guy named Daniel Burleson was at a bar in Iowa City, Iowa on Friday when the cops did a sweep through to check IDs.
And when Daniel gave them his real ID that showed he was 20, they spotted his fake ID in his wallet. And it wasn’t just any fake ID . . . it was a Hawaii driver’s license with the name McLovin. With a picture of McLovin on it.
If you don’t know that reference, it’s from the movie “Superbad”, where one of the characters gets a fake Hawaii driver’s license that says his name is “McLovin.”
Daniel said he ordered it online.
He was charged with possession of a fake ID, public intoxication, minor in possession of alcohol, and being in a bar while underage.

GOOD NEWS
A high school cross country team from Ocean City, New Jersey spent two years doing fundraisers and saving up for a trip to Orlando this month. Then at the last minute, it looked like the trip might not happen.
They were heading to an event called the Disney Cross Country Classic. All 79 students were at the airport in Philly when their flight got delayed, then cancelled. And Frontier Airlines didn’t have any other flights that would get them there on time.
That was around 8:00 P.M. last Thursday. And by 10:00 P.M., their coaches decided to let them all know the trip wasn’t happening after all.
But what the coaches didn’t know was that the students had been all over SOCIAL MEDIA looking for help, and sending tweets to a bunch of airlines. And it turned out someone in DELTA’S corporate office was paying attention.
A Delta employee walked up to the group . . . told them corporate got in touch . . . and that they had a solution. Then Delta flew in a PRIVATE PLANE they normally use for pro sports teams and political campaigns. And they got them to Orlando just in time.
They took off at 4:00 A.M. . . . got an hour of sleep at their hotel . . . and the event started at 10:00 A.M. But somehow, they still did really well and won a BUNCH of medals.

➢ Four inmates who repeatedly escaped from a federal prison in Texas so they could return with whiskey and cellphones are back in custody after they were finally caught in the act. The men were spotted leaving the prison grounds and cutting through a neighboring ranch. When arrested later, they were found to be carrying contraband in bags, including whiskey and cellphones. The arrests came after repeated reports of their escapes and returning to the prison with contraband, according to the statement.
➢A town in Italy has banned the use of Google Maps because it was leaving tourists stranded. Officials in the mountain village of Baunei say that last year alone, the local fire service and mountain rescue team have been called 144 times to rescue motorists who had followed the directions of Google Maps to reach “hidden beaches” and ended up driving on lanes or trails that are unsuitable for cars. Police have put up signs that read “Do not follow the directions suggested by Google Maps”.

BANANA APPEAL:
An apple a day might keep the doctor away, but a banana a day might keep you out of the hospital.
Researchers at the University of Alabama have found that eating bananas daily could help prevent heart attacks and strokes. Their study, which aimed to determine how the mineral potassium affects blood flow and artery health, examined mice who received a diet containing either low, normal, or high levels of potassium.
Mice given a low-potassium diet had much harder arteries than their counterparts. Mice who received high levels of potassium, on the other hand, showed significantly less artery hardening and reduced stiffness in their aorta. Next, they plan to test the effects of a high-potassium diet on humans.
The National Institute of Health recommends that adults consume about 3,500 mg of potassium per day. One banana contains about 358mg of potassium.

The Houston Astros knocked off the N.Y. Yankees 6 – 4 in Game Six on Saturday, thanks to a walk-off home run in the ninth by JOSE ALTUVE. They’re moving on to face the Nationals in the World Series, beginning with Game One tomorrow.
It was a crushing blow to the Yankees, who’d JUST come back from behind to TIE the game in the top of the ninth with DJ LEMAHIEU’s two-run homer.
The Astros are returning to the World Series just two years after winning it in 2017 over the L.A. Dodgers.
This time around, Houston is up against the Washington Nationals, who’d never even won a playoff series before this season.

Two winning tickets were sold for the $5 million jackpot in Saturday night’s Lotto 649 draw.
One was purchased in Ontario, the other in Quebec, and each is worth $2.5 million.
The draw’s guaranteed $1 million prize was claimed by a ticket holder in the Prairies.
The jackpot for the next Lotto 649 draw on Oct. 23 will again be approximately $5 million.
This has been a lucrative weekend for someone in Quebec.
A single ticket sold in the province claimed the $32 million jackpot in Friday night’s Lotto Max draw.

BROOKS & DUNN, RAY STEVENS INDUCTED INTO COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME
Brooks & Dunn, comedy singer Ray Stevens and producer and former label head Jerry Bradley were inducted into the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame last night (Sunday, October 20th) during the Hall’s annual medallion dinner held at the Hall of Fame.
Kix Brooks tells us that being a member of the Hall of Fame is the ultimate honor in Country music. [“For lack of any other better way to explain it, all of those awards that we’ve gotten are all ‘of the year.’ This is such a . . . you don’t know where it starts or where it ends or anything else. It’s just sort of the biggest thing that our industry has to say, ‘You did good and we’re recognizing you forever.'”]
On hand to perform and honor the inductees were Luke Bryan, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, Ricky Skaggs, Marty Stuart and Travis Tritt.
