Elderly Woman Falls Victim To FraudFri Jul 30th, 2010
Charges have been laid against a Chatham man, accused of bilking an elderly woman out of close to $1800. Police say the man first contacted the 90-year old victim in mid-June, telling her she needed new gutter guards on her house and offering to do the work. He took some money for a deposit, and managed to steal her debit card and PIN number. Over the next several weeks, the suspect allegedly withdrew money and made purchases from the account. The 30-year old was arrested yesterday and charged with 11 counts of theft and two counts of fraud.
