CK Mornings

A thief near San Diego grabbed $80,000 in gold necklaces from a jewelry store and ran out.  But cops know who he is because his FANNY PACK got snagged on the door . . . fell off . . . and had his ID in it.  Here’s one of the owners explaining how the guy’s girlfriend claimed she was going to the car to get her wallet.  But she was actually holding the door for him, because it has an electric lock.

If you think we’ve seen some harsh weather around here lately, just count your blessings that you aren’t in South Florida. The National Weather Service has been warning citizens there this week to take cover due to a forecast of “frozen iguanas” amid low temperatures in the 30s and 40s Fahrenheit (0-9°C). Iguanas are known to literally freeze in-state as temperatures dip to about 40. Here’s an expert from the Miami Zoo explaining why it happens.

The Internet lost its collective mind, after pictures and video of JAMES CORDEN and

JUSTIN BIEBER filming an episode of “Carpool Karaoke” surfaced this week.

Because James wasn’t really driving . . . the car was being TOWED.

“Late Late Show” spokesperson said, quote, “James always drives during ‘Carpool Karaoke’ . .

“However, on the rare occasion when there’s a stunt component and the producers feel it is unsafe to drive, we’ll use a rig.” They’ve talked about the process before.

A while back, a producer said they do easy driving routes.  The streets aren’t blocked off . . . so there are other cars . . . but James is never driving more than 20 miles-per-hour.

James’ car is part of a convoy.  The show has two cars ahead of him and three behind him.  And they don’t let any other cars around him for safety reasons.

By the way, the show didn’t specifically confirm that Justin is doing “Carpool Karaoke” again.  He previously did it in 2015.

SUNDAY SCARIES:
A survey of 2,000 people says that the “Sunday scaries” set in at exactly 3:58pm.

Sunday scaries, of course, are that anxious feeling you get in the bottom of your stomach on Sundays when you start to dread the upcoming workweek.

The survey also found that it takes, on average, two hours to unwind after work on a Friday, and workers do slightly over three hours of unpaid work over the weekend, including checking emails, looking over presentations, or taking work calls. Here are the top ways that people fight the Sunday scaries:

  • Take time for myself during the weekend: 44 percent
  • Make sure to get a full night’s rest on Friday and Saturday: 42 percent
  • Use the end of the day Friday to get organized for Monday: 35 percent
  • Use the weekend to get ahead of what I need to do during the week: 34 percent
  • Take a “digital detox” for part of the weekend: 21 percent

But still, 68% of workers admit that they generally stay up later than they should on Sunday evenings.

GOOD NEWS

More and more nursing homes are using music therapy with dementia patients.  And it’s remarkable how well some of them remember their favorite songs, or even lyrics.  (There’s a great documentary about it called  ALIVE INSIDE)

Now a woman has a HIT SINGLE out of the deal.

83-year-old Margaret Mackie suffers from dementia and lives in a nursing home in Scotland.

Last month, one of her helpers sang a duet with her at their annual Christmas party.  And it was so good, he booked time in a recording studio with her.

They covered the Frank Sinatra song “My Way”, and posted it to iTunes last week.  And less than 24 hours later, it hit number SEVEN on the iTunes U.K. Pop Songs chart.

You can buy it on iTunes for a buck.  Just search for  MY WAY BY MARGARET MACKIE.

All the proceeds are being split between two charities, the Alzheimer’s Society and Dementia U.K.

YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS UP………….
➢ A Brooklyn, NY man has registered a pint of beer as an emotional support animal. Lloyd Hayes wants to use the certification to carry his beverage of choice — like, say, a seasonal IPA — on public transit. On the application, Hayes entered “beer” as an emotional-support dog, and ticked off “no training needed” as its training status. He wrote that it was to help with his “social anxiety disorder.” Although it is unlikely his application will be approved, he did wait for the bus at his usual stop one day this week with a glass of beer in hand.

➢ Two guys with not much else to do have created what is known as an ‘Earth sandwich’. Yes, they placed slices of bread at precisely opposite points of the planet. One man was located in New Zealand, and he managed to find another to put a second slice of bread directly on the other side of the planet, which happened to be in Spain. The men used GPS coordinates to make sure they were exactly opposite each other, and took into account the 12-hour time difference to be sure that their sandwich “order” was completed at both ends. They calculated that there was about 12,724km of earth between the two slices…definitely the world’s biggest-ever sandwich.

➢ The parents of a bride and groom in India ran off and eloped before their kids’ wedding, prompting their families to call the whole thing off. The bride’s father and groom’s mother reportedly went missing about 2 weeks ago. Their families reported them missing, though they suspect that it’s more likely they rekindled a childhood romance and eloped.

There’s a Big Debate Right Now Over the Correct Sleeping Position

Do you sleep in a NORMAL position?  And IS there even such a thing as a normal position?

There’s a big debate on Twitter right now after a writer Tweeted a picture that shows 18 different sleeping positions and asked people which one they use.

But people aren’t just sharing their sleeping position . . . they’re also JUDGING the other positions.

One that’s getting the most heat is number 13 on the chart . . . that shows a person basically scrunched up in a ball, face down, hugging their pillow.

GETTING PLANTED:
A company called Capsula Mundi is experimenting with a unique burial method that effectively turns dead bodies into a tree. The deceased person is be placed into a specially made egg-shaped pod, which will act as a seed.

The pod is then buried with a tree on top of it. Because the pod is made from a starch plastic, it is 100% biodegradable and will breakdown by itself in the ground. The body inside will also start to decay and transform into nutrients, which will, in turn, be absorbed by the tree roots.

Not only would these “funeral pods” replace today’s caskets, they would also transform the look of today’s cemetery. Rather than lines of gravestones, in the future, we could all be a part of a vibrant memorial forest.

MIRANDA LAMBERT HEADS INTO GRAMMYS AS DOUBLE NOMINEE

Miranda Lambert is Grammy-bound this weekend as a double nominee. Her hit single, “It All Comes Out In The Wash,” is up for Best Country Song and her trio, Pistol Annies, are up for Best Country Album for their 2018 release, Interstate Gospel.

Miranda co-wrote “It All Comes Out In The Wash” with a group of female hit songwriters who call themselves the Love Junkies — Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose and Lori McKenna. She is a frequent co-writer of theirs, and she tells us their usual talks and her title came together to create this song. [“I had the title for awhile written down in my phone, and we like to talk about girlie things and things going on in life when we write together so I feel like this song is just kind of a mix of scenarios that either all of us have been a part of or seen or something that’s happened in all of our lives and realizing that when you have something in your life that’s a little hurtful or, you know, a moment that you wish would pass, it does all pass and it all comes out in the wash, and that’s something that all of our moms would say to us when we were little — let’s not worry about a stain — so I’m really proud of it. It’s a really fun song.”]

The Grammy Awards airs live from Los Angeles on Sunday (Jan. 26th) on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

LITTLE BIG TOWN READY TO MAKE MORE MEMORIES AT THIS WEEKEND’S GRAMMYS

Little Big Town will be at this weekend’s Grammy Awards as nominees for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “The Daughters.” No stranger to the Grammy Awards, LBT’s Karen Fairchild tells us she has some definite favorite moments from years past. [“My favorite Grammy memory is probably, I have a couple, Prince and Beyonce; so epic and so electric. I love, love, love that memory. I love, I mean selfishly, I love singing ‘Girl Crush’ on there, because we had never been on the Grammy stage before, so. (We had) an all-female orchestra. It was just so special and we’re so grateful we won a Grammy that night. So, that has to be my best memory.”]

FAST FACTS

Here are the other Best Country Duo/Group Performance Grammy nominees:
“Brand New Man,” Brooks & Dunn With Luke Combs
“I Don’t Remember Me (Before You),” Brothers Osborne

CHRIS JANSON CELEBRATES ‘GOOD VIBES’

Chris Janson celebrated his third Number One hit, “Good Vibes,” with a party in Nashville on Tuesday (Jan. 21st).

“Good Vibes” is the first single from Chris’ latest album, Real Friends. He tells us the song was born out of negativity but has transformed his own and many others’ lives. [“I honestly just wrote it because I threw my hands up and said it during the co-write. I wasn’t really thinking much more than that. I was just complaining about life and it was the first song that I ended up writing for the Real Friends album. It was one of the first songs I wrote last year. I was just getting back in the swing of things and, yeah, it’s changed a lot of lives. It changed my life, actually. It’s a great reminder that you have to walk it exactly like you talk it and it’s not so easy to do so I had to re-learn to do that. It’s pretty great.”]
