According to a new report, we’re in the middle of what’s called a “double-barrel flu season.” And you’re much more likely to get the flu TWICE this year.
There are two different general strains of influenza, type A and type B. And both are circulating this year. Type A is the more common one we see every winter. But there’s also been a huge spike in Type B cases, which hasn’t happened in almost 30 years.
Even though both types cause the same symptoms, the antibodies for one don’t really protect you from the other. And we’re only about halfway through flu season.
So there’s a chance a lot of people who’ve already had the flu will get it again in the next couple months.

Baby Yoda may have taken the internet by storm in recent months, but Disney isn’t going to sit back and let others cash in with knockoff merchandise. Disney has ordered online retailer Etsy to purge all Baby Yoda items it has for sale on Friday. But their efforts to keep bootleg merchandise offline isn’t going exactly as planned. If you searched “Baby Yoda” on Etsy on Saturday, a number of listings still popped up, including $30 Baby Yoda sweaters and several stuffed versions of the small, green humanoid alien.

Days of Bringing Your Emotional Support Peacock on Planes Could Be Coming to an End
If you NEED your pet llama to get through the anxiety of traveling, I’ve got some bad news.
The U.S. Department of Transportation just proposed new rules that would bring an end to this era of emotional support animals on planes. If their rules take effect, the only service animals that would be allowed on flights are dogs. That means no pigs, no miniature horses, no turkeys, no peacocks . . . just dogs.
The DOT worded their proposal carefully to make sure they were being sensitive to people with legitimate needs for support animals . . . but they’re cracking down to limit people who, quote, “falsely claim their pets are service animals.”
The number of complaints about wild service animals on flights has jumped from around 700 in 2013 to more than 3,000 five years later. The president of the Association of Flight Attendants says they’re happy with the proposal. Quote, “The days of Noah’s Ark in the air are hopefully coming to an end.”

GOOD NEWS
An older guy in central Michigan named Howard Kirby recently paid $70 for an old couch set at a second-hand store, and set it up in his man cave.
Then a few weeks later, he noticed one of the cushions had a lump in it. So his daughter opened it up. And inside was a small fireproof safe filled with $43,000.
His first thought was he could pay off the rest of his house and add a nice chunk to his retirement. He even talked to a lawyer who said he was legally allowed to keep it. But it just didn’t feel right. So he got in touch with the store, and they tracked down the family that dropped the couch off.
It turned out they donated it after their grandfather passed away. And they had no idea he was stashing cash in it. Howard surprised them with the money last week, and they were blown away.
He credits his faith for leading him in the right direction. Adding that even though he legally could have kept it, quote, “The lawful thing is not always the moral thing.”

Millennials Clean Their Bathrooms Less Frequently Than Other Age Groups, Survey Finds
Millennials are twice as likely as older generations to clean their bathrooms only once a month, according to a new survey.
The poll about routine household chores found that more than a fifth of people born after 1981 scrubbed their toilets every four weeks, compared to just over a tenth of Gen Xers and baby boomers who do the same. Across all age groups, the dreaded bathroom duty is most commonly done once a week, with 54 of responders choosing this option.
Just over a fifth of men admitted to washing their linens just once a month. Baby boomers were the most fastidious sheet changers, with nearly 52 percent completing the task every week, compared to 36 percent of millennials.
When it comes to bath towels, 38% use them only once or twice before sticking them in the wash.

CENTRAL HEATING:
A new study suggests that the traditionally-accepted “normal” body temperature is incorrect. 150 years ago, a German physician analyzed the temperatures of 25,000 patients and concluded that normal human body temperature is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit (37° C).
That standard has been published in medical texts ever since, and helped generations of doctors and parents judge the severity of children’s illnesses.
But at least two dozen modern studies have concluded that number is too high. Or was it? In a new study, researchers from Stanford University have determined that the 98.6 figure may have been correct at the time, but is no longer accurate because the human body has changed.
They say that today, the average normal human-body temperature is closer to 97.5 degrees Fahrenheit (36.39° C).

Hospice kitchen gets upgraded
The kitchen at Chatham-Kent Hospice is getting some improvements thanks to a grant.
The South Kent Wind Community Fund, a donor-advised fund of the Chatham Kent Community Foundation, recently approved a grant of $9,750 to go towards upgrading appliances at the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
With the grant money, Hospice employees were able to purchase a larger freezer, an upgraded dishwasher, new shelving units, and an induction soup rethermalizer.
Jodi Maroney, executive director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, added that the donation will help ease some of the burdens of operating costs.
Since opening the doors in April 2016, Chatham-Kent Hospice has cared for over 720 families from across Chatham-Kent.

Almost 90K Ford pickups in Canada recalled
The Ford Motor Company has recalled thousands of F-150 pickup trucks in Canada due to a glitch in the tailgate mechanism.
Ford Canada has issued a recall for almost 90,000 F-150 pickups equipped with an electric tailgate-released switch. The recall covers models built for the 2015 to 2018 model years.
The automaker said Monday that water entering the electrical wiring system might cause a short circuit that may accidentally trip the tailgate release, resulting in the tailgate flipping open by itself. This may result in a loss of unrestrained cargo and an increase in the chances of a crash. No collisions or injuries have been reported so far, according to the recall notice.
Owners will get a recall notice in the mail. If you own one of these vehicles, take it to a Ford service centre where the glitch will be repaired at no charge.

LADY ANTEBELLUM USE THEIR PLATFORM TO FOCUS ON ‘AMAZING PLACES LIKE ST. JUDE’
Over the weekend, Lady Antebellum was honored with the Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award for their continued support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. The honor coincides with the success of their latest chart-topping hit, “What If I Never Get Over You,” which is their career 10th Number One.
Lady Antebellum first started visiting St. Jude over a decade ago, and their continued success allows them to keep giving back to such a worthy cause. Hillary Scott explains: [“Gosh, I mean, I can’t help but feel even more gratitude for the success of ‘What If I Never Get Over You,’ and the career that we’ve had up to this point because of the platform that it gives us to use our voices to bring light to amazing places like St. Jude, to give back and see lives changed. LITTLE BIG TOWN ALBUM TOPS COUNTRY CHART
Little Big Town takes the Number One spot on Billboard’s Country Albums chart with their latest release, Nightfall. The project was released on January 17th and includes their Grammy nominated single “The Daughters” and their current one, “Over Drinking.”
The album borrows it’s title from a song that Karen Fairchild co-wrote, but as Phillip Sweet tells us, that theme kept presenting itself throughout the project. [“The theme kept popping up, you know, and it had all these times of . . . You know, you experience so much at that time where night starts becoming . . . you start relaxing, you unwind, you can experience loneliness, you can experience love, nostalgia. All these things, it kept telling on itself in so many ways.”]

ZAC BROWN BAND ANNOUNCE ‘ROAR WITH THE LIONS TOUR’
Zac Brown Band will hit the road beginning with a two-night stint in Gilford, NH on May 24th and 25th on their Roar With the Lions Tour. The trek will feature special guest Gregory Alan Isakov throughout May and June. The tour is set to wrap on October 18th in Vancouver.
